THE DOT · PUBLIC IDENTITY
Player Rules
The Dot is a small daily game, not a social network. The main user-provided content visible to other players is your chosen username and public game identity. These rules keep Rank readable and safe.
1. What these rules apply to
These rules apply to usernames and any other player-provided content that The Dot allows to be displayed to other players.
2. Do not use a username that contains or promotes
- Hate, discrimination, slurs or dehumanising language.
- Threats, harassment, bullying or targeted abuse.
- Sexually explicit, exploitative or otherwise obscene content.
- Illegal activity or content that encourages serious harm.
- Impersonation intended to mislead other players.
- Another person's private information, or contact details such as phone numbers, email addresses or home addresses.
- Spam, scams, deceptive links, advertising or repeated promotional content.
Use a pseudonymous game name rather than putting sensitive personal information into your username.
3. Moderation
Proposed usernames may be checked automatically and, where needed, reviewed. A username can be rejected, hidden or replaced with a generated DOT number if it violates these rules, cannot be approved safely or needs review.
Moderation decisions are intended to protect the game and its players. They do not verify that a username is a person's real identity.
4. Reporting and hiding players
If a public username appears to violate these rules, use the in-app REPORT action. You can also hide another player from your own view. We review reports and may take action on the public identity where appropriate.
5. Repeated or serious misuse
Repeated attempts to bypass moderation or serious abuse may lead to additional restrictions or other action needed to protect The Dot and its players.
6. Privacy
Your public username is separate from your account identity. Do not use the username field to publish personal or sensitive information. See the Privacy Policy for how The Dot handles account, gameplay and moderation data.
7. Questions or appeals
If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, or you want to report an issue that cannot be handled in-app, use the contact form.
